Start-up with clean agriculture

Nowadays, agriculture is still an integral part of the economy. While many young people leave their hometown to live in the bigger cities in search of experiences and challenges, others waive their city jobs and return to their hometown to pursue a dream in sustainable farming. Accordingly, in the face of the current situation of dirty food and chemically contaminated food, which greatly affects the health of consumers, clean agriculture has been and will become an inevitable trend of life.

We are always keeping up with what happens in the farming business and sometimes we cross paths with some interesting partners. ByNature’s new partner farm is the realization of a dream of starting sustainable farming by a few young people returning to their home provinces. Established in 2016, this farm is operated with passion for clean agriculture. Ms. Trinh – co-founder of the farm said that if she doesn’t love her job, she can’t pursue it until now; because farming is hard work, especially farming using organic farming methods. It does require dedication and lots of hard work, but the rewards are endless.

Passion and love for clean agriculture

When asked about her change, Trinh said: “Being born and raised in the countryside of Dak Lak, having experienced farm work and farming since childhood, I feel very passionate about sustainable agriculture”. Later, she entered The Plant Science major of Central Highlands University; After graduating from school, she returned to her hometown to start her farming dream. Realizing that vegetables and fruits are essential daily foods, she wishes for herself, her family and consumers to benefit from the great quality and safe products. As she said: “Organic farming is not only to generate income, but also a passion and love for agriculture. Mainly, to protect the health of oneself and your family. As well as for the community and environment.”

Working on the farm

She started the farm with 2 friends on 1 ha of land. Trinh said that when she first started, the farm faced many difficulties. The first was the problem of pests. Due to lack of experience and no suitable biological products for each type of crop, pests and diseases occured often, affecting product quality and crop yield. Further, the weather and climate is also one of the big obstacles. Finally, the output, once the products are grown, the biggest difficulty is to find customers who really need the products and accept the prices since all-natural produce has a high price – 3-5 times higher than conventional produce.

Organic farming methods

At the farm, everything is all-natural and grown using organic farming methods. The produce is grown without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Instead, self-composting fertilizer, cow manure, oil cake manure and fish manure will be fully utilized. The farm also uses traditional methods such as insect traps and homemade probiotics from ginger, chili, garlic and alcohol to control pests and mold.

The Farm now expanded to include 2 partner farms to ensure the supply and variety of crops. They urge farmers from neighbouring farms to consult and observe activities on their farm, they also share agricultural techniques and guide like minded farmers on how to prepare and use organic fertilizer products. In addition, Trinh and her partners regularly spend time in the surrounding gardens to check product quality, assist in purchasing and ensure output for the farmers.

It can be said that, up to this time, the farm has achieved certain successes: bringing quality products to consumers; the product is accepted by the customer; allowing for expanding cooperation with many companies and clean food stores.

Trinh (and we are as well) is very thankful to be collaborating with companies like ByNature. Together, we share the same passion and visions. We are looking forward to developing along with this farm.
